Rochester Riverside Primary School

Little Nell

Welcome to Little Nell Class page

Hello everyone, on this page you can find out about what we are learning, our daily routines, dates for your diary and see our adventures!

The class teachers in Little Nell class are Miss Bancroft (Monday-Wednesday), Mrs Bull (Wednesday-Friday) and Mrs Seager is our teaching assistant.

At Rochester Riverside we provide the children with opportunities that engage, enthuse and spark curiosity. The children's interests are important to us and are at the heart of the learning opportunities provided. Our Riverside vision is behind everything we do as we explore together the fundamental questions of 'Who are we?' and 'How do we live?'

Little Nell - Timetable Term 1

Take a look at our adventures and what we have been learning...

Proud to be a Little Nell

Term 1

Our teachers are so proud of how we have settled into Year 1. They have been really impressed with our learning this term, which was based on 'What makes me special?'.

We enjoyed looking at a range of different books in Drawing Club, including Funny Bones, Supertato and the Colour Monster!

In Maths we spent time developing a deeper understanding of numbers 1 - 10, learning about the 'Greater and Lesser than' crocodile signs, ordering numbers and being introduced to the part-part whole model to help with our addition and subtraction understanding.

Within our topic lessons we have learnt about:

  • Picasso and his famous portrait
  • Creating our own self-portraits
  • Our local area and the different landmarks that we have (we loved using our small world and construction to build these)
  • How each of us have grown and changed since we were babies
  • Mary Seacole
  • Logging on to Busy Things and comparing using an art program to using pencils and paper

We also learnt about some different stories in RE, including The Story of Jonah.
