Rochester Riverside Primary School

Tiny Tim

Welcome to Tiny Tim Class page

Hello everyone, on this page you can find out about what we are learning, our daily routines, dates for your diary and see our adventures!

The teachers in Tiny Tim class are Miss Lake and Mrs Seager.

At Rochester Riverside we provide the children with opportunities that engage, enthuse and spark curiosity. The children's interests are important to us and are at the heart of the learning opportunities provided. Our Riverside vision is behind everything we do as we explore together the fundamental questions of 'Who are we?' and 'How do we live?'

Key information

Don't forget to bring to school:

  • A named water bottle filled with water every day.
  • Your book bag with your yellow reading record in every day.
  • A spare change of clothes in a named carrier bag to stay on your peg.
  • Welly boots that can stay at school.

Please put your child's name in all items of clothing.

Tiny Tim and Oliver Twist do Forest School together on Tuesday afternoons. Children are to come to school in their Forest School clothes (but normal shoes) and remain in them all day. Please ensure the children are wearing old jeans and a long-sleeved top and have named wellies at school to change into. Please also ensure your child comes to school with a coat.

Our PE day is Wednesday, please come into school in your PE kit. Your child will stay in their PE kit all day. Please ensure all jewellery is removed on Wednesday.

At Rochester Riverside, we teach children to read with Little Wandle Letters and Sounds revised. The children will have a daily phonics session and we want each individual to grow their love of reading. On their website you will be able to watch videos to hear how the graphemes are pronounced, how to write letters along with how you can support your children with their reading skills at home.

Children participate in a daily whole class phonic lesson which follows the structure of review, teach, practise and apply. Children will be taught new graphemes and reading/writing skills whilst being able to revisit prior learning along with practising and applying their new phonics knowledge.

Each child will also have the opportunity to read with an adult 3 times a week using a book that is matched to their phonic knowledge. Each read will focus on a different skill which allows children to build their reading fluency.

If you would like any other additional support with phonics please speak to Miss Lake who will be happy to help.

Week 4

This week in Tiny Tim class we went and visited Pilgrim's library. We enjoyed sharing a story as a class and then, having the chance to find our own book and share it with our friends. We also started our Phonics lessons this week. We have learnt the sounds; S,A,T,P and have enjoyed challenging ourselves by writing our new sounds. Finally, we went to our first Worship; we learnt some new songs ready for our Harvest Service.
